Educational Objectives
Following the completion of the ProRehab and University of Evansville
Clinical Residency Program the resident will be able to:
- Perform rehabilitation specific to the unique needs of the athlete.
- Apply and use sport-specific taping, bracing, and injury prevention equipment.
- Identify potentially catastrophic injuries in the athlete and provide appropriate care.
- Diagnose athletic injuries using appropriate clinical data, special tests and radiological studies based on the best available evidence.
- Apply anatomical, biomechanical, physiological, pharmacological, psychological sciences to the examination and treatment of athletes.
- Describe the medical and surgical considerations in the post-operative rehabilitation of the athlete.
- Participate in research and scholarly activity and identify its importance in clinical practice.
- Provide education to the patient and sports medicine team with regard to nutrition, ergogenic aids, training, environmental factors, and equipment.
- Actively participate in the sports medicine team within the scope of practice, administer pre-participation screens, and take an active role in injury prevention.
The ProRehab & University of Evansville Sports Residency Program is credentialed by the American Physical Therapy Association as a post-professional clinical residency program for physical therapists.
