Objectives
Following the
completion of the ProRehab and University of Evansville
Clinical Residency Program the resident will be able to:
1.
perform rehabilitation specific to the unique needs of the
athlete.
2.
apply and use sport-specific taping, bracing, and injury
prevention equipment.
3.
identify potentially catastrophic injuries in the athlete and
provide appropriate care.
4.
diagnose athletic injuries using appropriate clinical data,
special tests and radiological studies based on the best available evidence.
5. apply anatomical, biomechanical, physiological,
pharmacological, psychological sciences to the examination and treatment of
athletes.
6.
describe the medical and surgical considerations in the
post-operative rehabilitation of the athlete.
7.
participate in research and scholarly activity and identify
its importance in clinical practice.
8.
provide education to the patient and sports medicine team with
regard to nutrition, ergogenic aids, training, environmental factors, and
equipment.
9.
actively participate in the sports medicine team within the
scope of practice, administer pre-participation screens, and take an active
role in injury prevention.
The ProRehab & University of
Evansville Sports Residency Program is credentialed by the American Physical
Therapy Association as a post-professional clinical residency program for
physical therapists.
