Evansville, IN. (March 11,
2008) – The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
has approved the ProRehab & University of Evansville Sports Residency
Program as an APTA-credentialed post-professional clinical residency
program. With the prestigious accreditation, the program becomes one of just
nine Sports Physical Therapy Residency

ProRehab, a preeminent
provider of outpatient physical and occupational therapy, launched
the program with the University of Evansville in 2007. The program’s
mission is to provide postprofessional experiential and didactic learning
that will promote clinical excellence and encourage clinicians to become
innovative, efficient, and effective outpatient sports rehabilitation
specialists.
“We now join an elite group of only nine organizations across the country
offering a credentialed residency program for sports physical therapy.
Earning this prominent accreditation is a great honor and further solidifies
ProRehab as a nationwide leader in the physical therapy field,” said
Residency Program Director, Dr. Phil Plisky, PT, DSc, OCS, ATC/L, CSCS.
The ProRehab & University
of Evansville Sports Residency Program is designed to provide physical

This includes pre-participation physicals, performance enhancement, injury
prevention, on-field management, rehabilitation, and return to sport
considerations. ProRehab & University of Evansville Sports Residency
Program is credentialed through 2013.

participate in one of the active research lines offered through ProRehab and
the University of Evansville’s (UE) Department of Physical Therapy.
Additionally, residents will have the opportunity to provide lecture and
laboratory assistance to entry-level doctor of physical therapy students at
UE.
Through the program,
individuals will use evidence-based principles to achieve superior
functional outcomes and patient satisfaction. The ultimate goal of the
Sports Residency Program is to develop clinical specialists who are
service-oriented professionals who possess advanced skills and competencies,
which will allow them to analyze patient problems, think critically, use
current best evidence to support patient care decisions, actively
participate in research, and recognize the importance of lifelong learning
and ethical decision-making.
