Over 50 professionally licensed therapists and athletic trainers, 6
locations, and countless satisfied patients.
But it's not about the numbers... it's
about the people.
Mary Kay
Arvin, OTR/CHT
Mary Kay has worked in many settings with clients of all ages.
An Evansville native, and Mater Dei grad, Mary Kay earned her
Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from IUPUI.
In 2002, she became a certified hand therapist. Mary Kay says,
"A person's 'occupation' can include any activity performed at
home or a work. When illness or injury interferes with
performance of that activity, an Occupational Therapist may be able
to help restore independence. My job is to guide a patient
toward helping themselves regain function and, eventually,
independence." Mary Kay's patients are extremely grateful
for her understanding of their condition and the kindness she shows
when working with them.
Sandra McCutchan,
Severe Shoulder Pain
Sandra enjoys gardening, boating, and homemaking, but, when a
severe shoulder pain struck, she was unable to perform the
activities she had grown to love. The pain not only kept her
awake at night, it was so severe that she couldn't use her arm to
open a door. Even getting dressed was difficult. Then
Sandra met Mary Kay Arvin. "Mary Kay found the problem
and helped me understand what was wrong," Sandra said.
Understanding the problem made Sandra more willing to participate in
her therapy. Sandra went on to say, "She taught me how to
continue improving after therapy, so I could return to the 'real
world'." Sandra now enjoys all of the activities that
were once taken from her.
Kyle Kiesel, MPT, ATC, CSCS
Kyle is
exceptionally well qualified to treat the spine patients he
specializes in at ProRehab. He is a Certified Athletic Trainer
and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Having
received his Master of Physical Therapy degree, Kyle is currently
pursuing his doctorate in Rehabilitation Sciences from the
University of Kentucky. His dissertation topic is the
incorporation of ultrasound imaging into the management of patients
with low back pain. Kyle has presented on this topic at
national and international meetings, allowing him to interact with
leading physical therapists from around the world. As Director
of Outcomes and Evidence-Based Practice at ProRehab, Kyle ensures
that clinical interventions used at ProRehab follow the current and
best evidence available.
Linda Ashby, Cervical Disc Degeneration and Low Back
Pain
A long
history of neck, shoulder, and low back pain brought Linda to
ProRehab, because the pain was slowing her active lifestyle.
Based on ProRehab's commitment to Evidence-Based Practice, Kyle
Kiesel treated Linda with a rehabilitation program that focused on motor
control activities and exercises/fitness recommendations.
Linda still checks in with Kyle periodically for advice on
progressing her program. However, Linda has now returned to an
active lifestyle that includes teaching, weekend camping trips, and
keeping up with her grandchildren.
Ben
Lippe, MPT
Ben takes
pride in going beyond being a therapist. He enjoys getting to
know his patients as individuals and working with their physicians
to make sure they receive just the right treatment for their
specific situations. Ben received his Master's Degree in
Physical Therapy from the University of Evansville in 1997 and
especially enjoys working in the areas of postoperative orthopedic
rehab, ergonomic assessment and functional capacity
evaluation. As a certified administrator of Ergoscience
Functional Capacity Evaluations and an APTA- credentialed clinical
instructor, Ben is an integral member of the ProRehab staff and an
essential part of his patients' lives.
Frank
McManus, Two Consecutive Knee Replacements
Frank has
visited ProRehab on two separate occasions. Once, when he had
one knee replaced and the next time when he had the other knee
replaced. Ben Lippe worked with him both times, and Frank is
now able to walk without pain--and Frank loves to walk, especially
when it's from tee to green as he plays 18 holes of golf.
Frank is also proud to be able to participate in personal fitness
workouts, and pursue community charity work. According to Ben
Lippe, Frank's sense of humor and hard work made him the perfect
patient and, as Ben puts it, "a lot of fun."
