Kyle Kiesel, PT, PhD, ATC, CSCS

Director of Outcomes & Evidence-Based Practice


Dr. Kiesel received his B.S. in Physical Education
and Sports Medicine in 1990 from the University of
Nebraska at Kearney. He then earned his Master’s
degree in Physical Therapy from the University of
Nebraska Medical Center in 1994 and in 2007
earned his PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from the
University of Kentucky.  He is a Certified Athletic
Trainer and Certified Strength and Conditioning
Specialist.  He conducts research related to
functional movement testing and injury prediction
in athletes and low back pain.  He has presented
his work nationally and internationally and has
been a faculty member at the University of
Evansville since 2000.  He has extensive experience
teaching lecture and lab courses emphasizing
functional movement assessment and intervention
as well as teaching related to his doctoral work on
acute low back pain and the use of Rehabilitative
Ultrasound Imaging in physical therapy.  He was a
planning member and presenter for the first
Rehabilitative Ultrasound Imaging Symposium
sponsored by the Advances in Medical Practice
Program, Office of the Surgeon General and U.S.
Army Baylor University Doctoral Program in
Physical Therapy, held at Fort Sam Houston, Texas
in May 2006.  This event brought together 15
delegates from 5 different countries who
collaborated and planned research related to the
use of ultrasound imaging in rehabilitation.

Dr. Kiesel is engaged in patient care in orthopedics
and sports at ProRehab, where he also serves as
Director of Evidence-Based Practice and Outcomes.
He consults with area college and high school sports
teams related to injury prevention, focusing on low
back pain.
