ProRehab Physical Therapists Become Board Certified Orthopaedic and Sports Specialists

2020

ProRehab is proud to announce three of their physical therapists have achieved board certifications placing them at the top of their field in physical therapy

Achieving board certification as Orthopedic Clinical Specialists are Jay Jolly OCS, DPT, and Hannah Wempe OCS, DPT.

AJ Hermann SCS, DPT, has also achieved his board certification as a Sports Certified Specialist.

The Orthopedic Certified Specialist denotes the therapist is an orthopedic clinical specialist, with an exceptional level of training and expertise. Board certifications are granted by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and involve a rigorous application and examination processes. Over 75% of ProRehab’s physical therapists are board-certified, though only 6.5% of the physical therapists in the United States are Board Certified in a specialty. Of those, 5.7% of therapists in the United States are Orthopaedic Clinical Specialists and fewer than 1% are Sports Clinical Specialists.

ProRehab is proud to have 10 times the number of board-certified specialists than the national average,” said ProRehab CEO Pat Wempe, PT, DPT, SCS, CSCS, “which means our patients can be confident they are getting leading therapy from the most highly trained therapists.”

The advanced clinical knowledge and skill set that comes with a Board Certification allows therapists to better treat the patients in their specialty and keeps them up to date with cuttingedge research and technology.

The OCS certification focuses on evidence-based practice, orthopedic injury examination, treatment, and medical interventions. The SCS certification concentrates on acute and critical sports injury treatment and sports injury prevention and wellness.

“Our SCS trained therapists are right at home in the field of sport,” said Wempe. “The Sports Certified Specialist (SCS) certification allows therapists to work with local sports teams, be the primary medical provider at sporting events, and work with high-level professional athletes. ProRehab therapists have a wealth of experience working with professional and NCAA sports teams, and have provided sports medicine services to 15 local high schools.

Both certifications are training beyond the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degrees these individuals have achieved.  Through hard work and determination of these individuals in their continued pursuit of excellence in care is the caliber of character we expect of ProRehab physical and occupational therapists.

Wempe further offered his congratulations to Drs. Hermann, Wempe and Jolly. “We’re very proud of the commitment they made to becoming board-certified specialists, and the hard work they put in to see it through. It’s a true testament to their passion for their careers and their patients.”
