Why Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapy helps people across a life span achieve their goals through the therapeutic use of daily activities. Our occupational therapists address a myriad of a physical conditions including orthopedic injuries to the upper extremities, general debilitation, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, other neurological conditions, and pediatric injuries or disabilities. Occupational Therapists enable individuals of all ages to live life to the fullest by promoting health, preventing injury, and adapting to or overcoming illness or disability.

We have several certified hand therapists who are highly skilled and board certified in the treatment of upper extremity orthopedic conditions. A qualified hand therapist can evaluate and treat any problem related to the upper extremity. The hand therapist can effectively treat and rehabilitate the patient through post-operative rehabilitation, preventative, non-operative or conservative treatment or industry consultation. The therapist works closely with the physician and patient to provide a continuum of care. This often starts within days of the injury or surgery right through the patient’s return to work and/or a productive lifestyle.

Several of our occupational therapists have special training and certification in industrial rehabilitation and certified work capacity evaluation. These therapist specialize in bridging the gap between traditional rehabilitation services and the workplace. They design and implement rehabilitation programs that replicate an individual’s job demands. In addition, these therapist perform post-offer or pre-placement testing, job site analysis, ergonomic consultation, on-site early intervention, functional capacity evaluation, and more.
